Continuing Professional Education Helps our CPAs and Your Personal AccountingJanuary 5, 2018
“The most important investment you can make is the investment in yourself.” These great words from billionaire businessman Warren Buffett ring true with our office.
Even though our Irvine CPA firm has been in business for over 35 years, we never rest on our laurels. In just the last two years, our CPA firm has doubled in size, and we attribute much of that growth to the in-depth knowledge and experience that our CPA team has accrued over the years. Of course, we’d be nowhere without our clients.
Our learning never stops; neither does our commitment to invest in our accountants.
This week, to kick off the New Year, our Managing Director, Brad Hall, along with David S., David H., Mai N. and Nancy L. kicked off 2018 with the Gear Up 1040 Individual Tax 2017 course in Garden Grove.
Our participants in the course earn 16 continuing professional education (CPE) credits over the two-day session. The California Board of Accountancy requires all active CPA licensees to complete at least 80 CPE hours in the two-year period immediately preceding license renewal.
These hours are critical for our learning. More importantly, these hours help keep us informed and knowledgeable to protect your assets and secure the best financial outcomes when preparing your personal taxes or your business’ financial reporting.
The 1040 Individual tax course for 2017 covered key tax issues for completing complicated individual returns, including new legislation, revenue rulings and procedures, as well as new case law.
We also have the privilege of attending speaker sessions. The professionals are all practicing preparers. They share effective tips and insights to help our teams in preparation for the 2018 tax season and beyond.
Other topics that we covered this year included changes to health care law, resolving ID theft problems, reporting in the sharing economy, and adjusting for compensation-based covered securities.
We are proud to have a committed team that is on top of the consistent changes year-round in the laws covering audits, reviews, international taxation, tax credits, estate and trust tax planning and many other areas of business and personal accounting.
